Srishti School of Art, Design and Technology (online presence) has a highly dynamic curriculum that ensures the best of contemporary design education. It is a powerhouse of projects and solution-centric ideas that are translated into a plethora of lively and contextual academic classes and programs. I was tasked with creating a visual explanation for the structure of the school programs and curricula that would communicate:

1. The programs offered, and the progression from one program to another
2. The distinct structure of specific programs
3. The thematic foci of classes and the corresponding concentrations in design.

In response, I created a radial chart that encourages faculty, students and parents to easily navigate through the various offerings of the school. The visual language from the Advanced Diploma Program campaign was extended into this graphic to ensure a consistency across collaterals.

The Process

The first step was to map out the academic structure using MindNode, to clearly define the organizational structure of the program. After exploring different forms of visual representation using low-fidelity sketches, two distinct visual approaches emerged. The first approach was a linear timeline, and the second, a radial tree map. The latter was agreed upon as an ideal solution.

 the structure

The final infographic was developed keeping in mind three critical considerations: program navigableness, discernibility of programs and concentrations, and a visible hierarchy that reveals layers relevant to each program. Owing to the dynamic program offerings, there was a strong emphasis on scalability, to allow the school to add programs or restructure the curriculum without needed to redo the entire exercise.
